Refugee Program Integrity Restoration Act blocks all Syrian/Iraqi refugees & gives power back to Congress. Momentum growing - show your support for this bill at: www.tpa.us/93
Hello, this is Charles Benninghoff on this 29th day of March 2016. Today I want to bring you up to date on our efforts to pass the Refugee Program Integrity Restoration Act designated as HR 4731.
I want to tell you about the impact that our church - Pray For US, Pray For The United States - has had on HR 4731 so far.
We started a campaign to pass this bill in early March and the House Judiciary Committee responded immediately. The bill was passed out of the committee by a vote of 18 to 9 on March 16th.
In a second campaign we had followers from all across the country speak out to Congress and the very next day eight more Representatives signed up as co-sponsors of the Refugee Program Integrity Restoration Act.
Now that we’ve built up some momentum for this bill we have to redouble our efforts and put massive grassroots pressure on Congress.
This is how Pray For US makes an impact on the federal government and when enough of us are willing to speak out to Congress... the Representatives and Senators do listen and act!
Here is what the Refugee Program Integrity Restoration Act would do if passed.
Any refugee who has spent time in or passed through Syria or Iraq since 2011 is automatically blocked from entering the United States.
Refugee admissions would be placed under a firm cap of 60,000 per year.
The bill takes authority over the federal Refugee Program away from the Executive branch and places it under the authority of Congress.
When the Refugee Act of 1980 was originally passed it put a cap on refugees at 60,000 per year but gave discretion to the Executive branch to raise that cap.
This executive discretion is what has allowed Obama to grant asylum to hundreds of thousands of un-vetted Muslim males -- including known terrorists -- even though the vast majority of Americans oppose this.
Communities are forced to take in un-vetted Muslim males and support them with local welfare programs. Obama even grants waivers to known terrorists to allow them into the country as refugees.
Exodus Chapter 18 in verses 21 and 22 says, “You shall select from among all the people: able men, such as fear God, men of truth who hate covetousness; and place these men over the people to be rulers of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. And let them judge the people at all times.”
This biblical concept of divided authority was certainly what the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Constitution with checks and balances between the three branches of government.
The Founders believed that too much authority could not reside in one office or with one man, just as the Bible teaches and a powerful slogan during the Revolutionary War was, “We have no king but King Jesus!”
The current status of the refugee program places too much power in Obama’s hands and the correct solution is to place that authority under the people’s representatives in Congress.
